PLC was awarded (a) $2,970,698 for its federal grant application, Pihana Hou: An RTI Approach Building Early Reading Skills in Schools and Communities.  Its central mission is to deliver supplemental services, focused on early reading and behavior supports, designed to improve student outcomes in eleven schools comprising approximately 5,900 students, of whom 59% are of Hawaiian ancestry and 75% are eligible for free or reduced price lunch as determined by the federal income eligibility guidelines. These percentages are higher than the average across all public schools in the state of Hawaiʻi.
