On November 25, 2022, PLC launched a virtual library system, Ke Ala ‘Imi Na‘auau, for the benefit of the four ʻAha Lamakū ʻOiaʻiʻo (ALO) project sties. The virtual library hub provides Ka‘ū-Kea‘au-Pāhoa Complex Area (KKP) students and teachers with a single point of access to online resources and immediate assistance from a certified school librarian. Each school has its own secure password protected access to the virtual library’s resources. Due to various constraints, a growing number of schools have eliminated their school librarian positions. Since none of PLC’s ALO project sites have librarians, PLC staffed the virtual library with a certified librarian who serves as the virtual library manager with direct responsibility for fielding inquiries, managing the portal, and providing users with technical assistance. The virtual library system is driven by the Spingshare platform, which houses the HIDOE’s Core Library suite, comprising the following online- cloud-based resources: EBSCO, LS2, Sora, Infobase General Reference, World Book, Learn 360, and Classroom Video On Demand.
