PLC’s most recent Culture- and Art-Based Activity occurred between November 11, 2021 and November 22, 2021 at Ka‘u High & Pahala Elementary School. The workshop offers student participants with a structured learning format to engage with local artists and cultural leaders who address critical environmental and social issues within the community. The two-week program includes field trips to culturally significant sites and student workshops. In partnership with the Ka‘ū-Kea‘au-Pāhoa Complex Area, PLC collaborated with The Estria Foundation and a team of local artists and high school students from Kaʻū High to co-create a beautiful mural in a strategic location on the school campus.
