In partnership with the Hawaii Department of Education’s Library Media Support Services, PLC launched the 2024 annual #808Reads Virtual Summer Reading Challenge from May 20, 2024 to July 31, 2024. This statewide reading campaign is a literacy motivation and engagement strategy designed to increase family-focused literacy activities, students’ independent reading habits, and student’s reading volume, which research asserts is essential to developing foundational reading skills.
As in previous years, the program offers access to the Sora shared eBook collection, live virtual author visits, online book discussions, and a variety of engaging literacy activities for students from kindergarten through Grade 12.
