In partnership with the Hawaii Department of Education’s Library Media Support Office, PLC launched the #808Reads Virtual Summer Reading Program. This reading campaign is a literacy motivation and engagement strategy designed to increase family-focused literacy activities, students’ independent reading habits, and student’s reading volume, which research asserts is central to developing foundational reading skills.

This summer’s virtual program will include a reading challenge, access to the Sora shared eBook collection, live virtual author visits, online book discussions, and other engaging and fun kindergarten through Grade 12 literacy activities selected and designed by a team of certified librarians. As of May 24, 2023, over 2,000 students have signed up for the program. Don’t miss out, and sign up here.
