PLC’s ‘Aha Lamakū ‘Oia‘i‘o (ALO) and ʻAha Lamakū ʻOiaʻiʻo-Hoʻoikaika Aʻe (ALO-HA) project staff partnered with the Ka‘ū-Kea‘au-Pāhoa Complex Area (KKP) and The Estria Foundation (TEF) to guide and mentor Kea‘au High School students in a two-week (March 1, 2022 to April 4, 2022) culture- and art-based learning expedition. The event culminated in the unveiling of two large-scale murals co-created by students and local artists. Like all ALO and ALO-HA services, the purpose of this expanded learning opportunity was designed to enrich the curriculum and accelerate learning by connecting students to their culture and community.
