For the sixth year, PLC partnered with the Hawai‘i Department of Education’s School Library Media Services to lead key aspects of the 2025 Statewide School Library Conference. This annual event was held at the Prince Hotel on August 8 and 9, 2025.
The conference featured keynote presentations by Diana Rendina, a nationally recognized school librarian, author, and maker education advocate, and Sean Petrie, an award-winning author, educator, and founder of Typewriter Rodeo. They were joined by a lineup of distinguished local and national leaders who facilitated 37 interactive breakout sessions, discussions, and workshops designed to spark innovation and collaboration.
The event opened with a powerful welcome address from Dr. Teri Ushijima, Assistant Superintendent, who inspired the 175 attendees, a group that included school librarians, principals, teachers, district representatives, and state-level staff.
PLC remains committed to recognizing and supporting the critical role of school librarians in creating dynamic educational experiences that extend beyond traditional classroom walls. Each year, PLC works alongside librarians to ensure they are equipped to meet the evolving needs of students, educators, and communities statewide.
