PLC collaborated with the Hawai‘i Department of Education’s School Library Media Services to orchestrate key elements of the 2023 Statewide School Library Conference. This annual event took place at the Prince Hotel from August 10 to 11, 2023. At this year’s conference, Brandon Mull (bestselling author of children’s fanatasy series, Fablehaven and the Five Kingdoms) and Jennifer LaGarde (library media specialist and author), alongside esteemed local and national educational authorities, offered engaging in-person presentations and hands-on work sessions. The inaugural day began on an inspirational note with Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Teri Ushijima, delivering a compelling message to the assembly of 130 participants, including school librarians, district representatives, and state-level personnel.
PLC recognizes that school librarians are integral to fostering a well-rounded education that goes beyond traditional classroom instruction. Each year, PLC works closely with school librarians to ensure that they are equipped to meet the evolving needs of students, teachers, and school community as a whole.
